Unix System Administrator

Position Summary:

Candidate will be responsible for the management, operation & security of SUN Sparc Solaris and RedHat Linux x86 based systems. Candidate will be required to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years Hands-on experience in managing SUN Solaris servers in a production environment.
  • The position requires thorough understanding of Sun Solaris, Veritas Volume Manager & File System, and Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience in working with Internet facing systems that support Web based applications.
  • Solid communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must have experience in administrating SAN environments, EMC preferred
  • Must have experience using HA software such as SUN or Veritas Cluster
  • Must have experience using Veritas Netbackup
  • Proficiency in scripting CShell, C, and Perl
  • Experience supporting systems that operate databases such as Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and firewall rule sets
  • System/Network Monitoring software experience such as HPOV, Nagios Tivoli, BMC, SNMP, etc
  • Experience with network based OS installation (kickstart, jumpstart).
