Careers Software QA Specialist Chicago, IL Position Summary: Agentrics is looking for a QA Specialist that can add immediate value to the team. The quality assurance test engineer will ensure that software developed meets the requirement’s specifications. These duties include creating formal testing and validation plans and/or scripts, selecting and maintaining data sets for testing and validation, logging test and validation results, interacting with software developers to identify and describe defects, and ensuring that all testing and validation documentation and their results have been archived. This position requires the ability to perform multiple simultaneous test tasks, prioritizing as appropriate to meet commitments and the ability to solve moderate to complex technical problems with general supervision and instruction. Position Requirements: - 1-2 years of experience & proven track record in performing QA efforts
- Experience with relational databases, including schema definitions, SQL queries, query tools, and data modeling tools. An understanding of Entity Relationship diagrams is required. (Oracle and/or MySQL experience preferred.)
- Experience with data mapping and transformation, and the ability to trace data flows through these types of processes to validate data results
- Experience with report definition, reporting engines, etc.
- Strong knowledge of software QA tasks, especially generation of test cases and test plans, QA planning, execution, estimating, problem reporting and tracking
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and Software Development methodologies. Proficiency in software QA methods and approaches
- Ability to communicate all findings, logging test results plus reporting on testing progress. Able to effectively communicate technical issues clearly across departments and to all levels of management.
- Ability to participate in test script reviews of other QA team members and to participate in requirements reviews of product management and software development team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills, Detail-oriented, work independently & in a team environment to drive product releases
- Automated testing experience desirable, including creating, maintaining and updating scripts
- Experience testing Web based applications
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Programming skills with VB Script, .NET
- General working knowledge of a defect tracking system
- Familiar with at least one database platform (Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle)
- Operating Systems: Windows NT, XP, Windows 98, Windows 2000, WinXP, UNIX
- Software: Oracle, MySQL, MS Access, HP/Mercury Products, QualityCenter, QTP, LoadRunner, WinRunner, MS Word, MS Excel
- Languages: Java, VB, JSP, Servlets
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area of study
Primary Roles and Responsibilities: - Design, write, develop and execute test plan and test cases using industry best practices for testing methodology
- Manage, track, report to the architect all defects, bug status and issue tracking - own the defect lifecycle
- Proactively resolve issues, and potential software issues
- Work closely with third party and internal software development teams on defect lifecycle management, and test case writing
- Analyze product issues, potential issues and improve the product from within
- Support customer issues, isolating issues and troubleshooting, recommending course of actions
- Own the Quality!
- Develop/Run automated testing as needed
