Position Summary

We wish to recruit a QA Engineer to join the UK GenNovation development team. GenNovation is a B2B portal for the collaborative development of new private label food products for retailers. Customers include Marks and Spencer who use GenNovation for all their product development and management. GenNovation is based upon a standard n-tier web architecture written using ASP, VB6, XML and SQL Server.

This role is central to the continued quality development of Agentrics products. It is a "very hands on" role. The role is to join a highly capable QA group who report to the UK Head of Development.

Responsibilities:

Duties of the QA Engineer include:

  • Designing, writing, developing and executing test plans and test cases using industry best practices for testing methodology
  • Standardizing testing methodology for existing and new products including the appropriate use of automated software testing
  • Participation in design review meetings, code reviews, documentation and related processes to ensure ongoing and long term product quality
  • Working closely with software development teams to improve product quality at all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Analyzing product issues, potential issues and improve the product from within
  • Supporting customer issues, isolating issues and troubleshooting, recommending course of actions
  • Work out of office hours (occasionally) to participate in software deployments to hosted customer sites

 

Skills and Expertise:

The following are essential:

  • 2 - 5 years overall working experience, ideally in a software product development environment
  • Computer science or other technical degree.
  • Must have experience of Quality Assurance and Software Testing of web based applications, preferably based on Microsoft Technology
  • Must demonstrate experience and proficiency in writing test plans and developing detailed test cases from use cases and functional specifications
  • Must demonstrate experience and proficiency in development of test data
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of providing complete solutions to customers to a high level of quality.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Milestone-oriented, detail-oriented, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Able to demonstrate high levels of self motivation

The following are desirable:

  • Experience of products developed on the Microsoft Technology platform
  • Experience in the retail vertical, particularly Food and Grocery and own label (private label)
  • Experience of Business Intelligence solutions
  • Experience of Test Director / Winrunner and experience using Automated testing tools
  • ISEB Testing Qualification
  • Experience of working with offshore companies and managing acceptance of products written by a third party
