Network Engineer
Alexandria, VA
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
Candidate will be responsible for administering both corporate and customer facing LAN/Hosting environments. Candidate will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting a geographically dispersed network. Candidate will be called upon to administrate and implement a variety of network platforms including: Cisco 6500 series switches, Cisco 72xx/3xxx/2xxx Routers, Checkpoint/Cisco Firewalls, Load Balancers, VPNs, IDS, VoIP and NMS.
Must Have:
- A minimum of 5 years Hands-on experience in managing Cisco routers and switches in a production environment
- Experience working in a hosting type environment, ASP/SaaS /Web
- Solid communication skills, both oral and written
- Cisco IOS advanced experience; v12.2/3/4
- Cisco Catalyst switch experience(PVLAN,802.1Q,Etherchannel,etc)
- Basic routing experience using BGP and OSPF
- CP Firewall-1 NGX Firewall experience
- Alteon or F5 Load Balancer experience
- Cisco/Other IPSec VPN experience
- 802.11b/g Wireless Network experience
- Solaris/Linux/Other UNIX operating experience
- BIND/DNS management experience
- RADIUS and LDAP knowledge for authentication purposes
- Experience using diagnostic tools like Ethereal/Wireshark or Other
- Experience documenting physical and logical network designs using Microsoft Visio or other product
Nice to Have:
- Cisco CCNP certification
- Understanding of Cisco QoS architecture. (CAR, Rate-Limiting,etc.)
- Administration level knowledge of Solaris/UNIX/Linux
- Cisco/Avaya Basic VoIP knowledge
- Perl, Expect, Shell scripting experience
- SNORT IDS & basic MySQL experience
- Windows 2003 Server experience
- Avaya VoIP PBX knowledge
- Experience with NAGIOS, RRDTool, Cacti, Netflow Position Metrics
- Network availability
- MTTR
- SLA
Travel Requirements (% time and typical activities for travel) 5% (as needed to remote locations)
